August 2019, Officer CaTari Jackson became a first. The first African American female mounted patrol officer with the Shreveport Police Department.

After four years in the department, serving and protecting our communities, the Southwood High School graduate endured an extensive, four-week training to become a certified Mounted Patrolwoman. She credits her placement to an assignment from God, “. . . God placed me here to be an example for the other young women,’ she said.”

Her new assignment is for the Downtown area. If you are in the area and see her, say hi and thank her for serving and paving the way. Congratulations Officer CaTari Jackson!
