29 Days of Local Black History: KOKA, The Heart of Gospel
Our final first for the amazing month of February is not a person. It is non other than the historic KOKA gospel station.
The first gospel station to air in Louisiana as well as the longest running urban station in the state. The station has been the beacon of light over the airwaves for 70 strong years.
Originally an AM station only, we are proud that we are now available to our amazing listeners on both AM and FM. None of this would be possible without the many pioneers that paved the way for where we are today, and of course the loyal listeners of this great station.
As we celebrate our Platinum 70th Anniversary, KOKA sends a huge thank you to our sponsors and listeners for making us your choice for gospel music. You are the ‘heart’ in the Heart of Gospel.
