Shreveport, La. (KOKA) There are many coronavirus hot spots throughout Shreveport and Caddo Parish.
Caddo Parish District 3 Commissioner – Steven Jackson has authored legislation and leading a effort to bring mobile testing for COVID-19 to areas that need it the most. If the legislation pass, Caddo Parish and LSU-Health Shreveport will enter into a partnership to provide testing to parish residents in major hot spots.
Leaders from the medical school are making plans to re-purpose their mobile mammography van for the COVID-19 testing outreach. They are just awaiting the vote of the commission.
The Caddo Parish Comission will vote this afternoon on the proposed legislation by Jackson.
“It is obvious that COVID-19 is affecting our community in Caddo Parish,” said Commissioner Jackson. “This is a opportunity for Commissioners to provide testing resources for communities that need it the most.”
Some commissioners plan to support the legislation like District 11 Commissioner Ed Lazarus and District 4 Commissioner John Paul-Young. Other commissioners are still studying the legislation and gathering information to determine their vote like District 2 Commissioner Lyndon B. Johnson.
