Shreveport, LA – The longest airing urban radio station in Shreveport, “KOKA” has chosen Aphten Jones to air weekdays (Monday-Fridays) from 6 P. M. – 9:00 P. M.
The station plans to continue playing gospel music, reach newer generations and grow its relationship with the community. The station leadership will accomplish this by bringing a more diverse group of talent, establish a stronger relationship with the gospel music industry and the community.
Jones is known for being an original member of the Stellar nominated group “Zie’l”. She’s travelled the country singing gospel music and has a voice that’s celebrated by many in the local church. Even while being a loving wife and mother, Jones released a solo gospel single entitled, “Yes,” written by Brent Latin who was inspired from a local church conference.
“Aphten has been singing in church since she was a little girl and I was a little boy,” said Charles Johnson, KOKA Director. “I’ve been searching for a female voice that knows gospel music and I believe Aphten is that person. She’s been around gospel music long enough to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary gospel music which would retain and bring new listeners.”
Jones will start on KOKA 980 AM and 93.3 FM Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 6 P. M. – 9 P. M.
