Lester, Houston, Ford, Taylor, Jones & Lindsey added for 2020

Shreveport, LA – The Heart of Gospel, “KOKA” will be adding new voices for 2020.

The station plans to continue playing gospel music, reach newer generations and grow its relationship with the community. The station leadership will accomplish this by bringing a more diverse group of talent, establish a stronger relationship with the gospel music industry and the community.

Calvin Ben Lester is a former Shreveport City Councilman and continues to be engaged in our community. He’s holds a Juris Doctorate from Southern Law and teaches at Jarvis Christian College. He will be added to the show with Theron Jackson where the show focus is to have dialogue about politics and social justice. But most importantly playing gospel music that awake our conscious.

Jeremy “Scooby” Houston is one of Shreveport’s funniest comedians. He’s performed at shows all throughout the country. He will be added to the show with Pastor CeJay where the show focus is playing today’s gospel.

Dorian Ford is a local favorite in Shreveport for Hip Hop music. She’s very well versed when it comes to the Hip Hop community. She will be added at nights on KOKA playing Christian Hip Hop which will be inviting a new sound to the station and potentially new listeners.

Lisa Taylor is a local favorite in the Quartet community. She’s a part of the group, “The Greater Starlight’s.” She will be added to the show with her father Tony Taylor where the show focus is playing gospel quartet music.

Steffon Jones is a well-known preacher and community leader within Shreveport. He will be joining his wife’s show on the weekends where they will focus on love and gospel music.

Joseph Lindsey is one of Shreveport’s favorite gospel artist. He has literally sang gospel music all over Shreveport-Bossier and beyond. He will be joining Jay Williamson on Sunday Mornings to help get listeners to church.

“I’m shaking things up for 2020,” said Charles Johnson, KOKA Director. “All shows on our station will play a balanced list of music that you’ll hear on each show but they will also invite their own distinct sound to gospel.”

All these additions will start on KOKA 980 AM and 93.3 FM Monday, January 6, 2020.
