Shreveport, LA – The longest airing urban radio station in Shreveport, “KOKA” have been chosen Shika Sims and Lauren Jackson to takeover weekends (Saturdays-Sundays) from 3 P. M. – 6:00 P. M as “Soul Sisters.”
The station plans to continue playing gospel music, reach newer generations and grow its relationship with the community. The station leadership will accomplish this by bringing a more diverse group of talent, establish a stronger relationship with the gospel music industry and the community.
Sims earned a mass communications degree from Southern University at Shreveport. She’s a mother, entrepreneur, and ministry leader at her church. Sims is an accomplished author, she’s written the following books: Dear Future Husband, I am Enough and a Wife in Waiting. She is known for empowering millennial women through her many organized gatherings.
Jackson earned a graduate degree in Banking and Finance from New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire. She also holds an undergraduate degree from Northwestern State University. Jackson has found success through being a mother, daughter of faith leaders, and entrepreneur. However, she has a story to tell and has done that as an accomplished author in her book, “Purposeful Pain.” Her book has helped countless of women; especially millennial women.
“Women have always been a force in the faith community, and we are now seeing the evolution of the millennial woman,” said Charles Johnson, KOKA Director. “The experiences that Shika and Lauren share speaks to, uplifts and empowers the millennial woman. I want millennial women to have a reason to tune in to KOKA and these Soul Sisters will be my reason.”
